Many posts about music have been made today on the Excite Magazine blog, but we would be remiss if we didn't make a post honoring THE KING, music's most revolutionary artist, musician, and dancer and arguably the BIGGEST celebrity to have graced the planet, Michael Jackson. Michael would be celebrating his 51st birthday today but the kind-hearted, soft spoken icon passed unexpectedly on June 25th. Michael's death left the world shocked and saddened, but his life left the world with unforgettable music, smooth moves, and more acceptance for people of different races. You could to the jungles of Africa or the streets of Cambodia and everywhere people will know the name and music of Michael Jackson. His influence is undeniable. Musical acts in every genre from hip-hop to rock and roll have taken bits and pieces of his music and style and made it their own. Dancers, especially those doing hip-hop dance like Usher and Justin Timberlake, are almost directly using moves originated by the King of Pop. Michael was a sweet and gentle man, yet tragically misunderstood and mistreated by the media and public in general. In spite of all his troubles and sadness he continued to see the good in the world and in people. He was the most charitable pop star of all time. He wanted to change the world because he believed that he could and whether or not he realized it while he was alive, he has changed the world in the most monumental of ways. Music will never be the same because he lived and music will never be the same since he died. To the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, we love you and miss you. Happy Birthday!

Two of my favorite Michael Jackson videos.

Earth Song-The art direction and cinematography of this video is just beautiful and the story speaks volumes.

Scream- The most expensive music video EVER made. We'd expect nothing less from the King of Pop. Michael and Janet's brother-sister dynamic in this video is so reminiscent of many sibling relationships. It's clear that they are having a good time and it's fun to watch them in this, their first and only video together. Not to mention, their constant flipping the audience off is always amusing.
