Well, there certainly has been a bit of a break here on the Excite Magazine Blog. No posts since last year in September. YIKES! So, the first order of business is to say, HAPPY NEW YEAR! It's 2009! Yeah, we're a month late. Remember when we were coming into the new millennium and everyone cried Y2K and all the computers were supposed to crash and all systems were supposed to go down, then, at 12 midnight we entered into the year 2000 and absolutely NOTHING happened? That was pretty funny. All that frenzy over nothing. *Sigh* Good times.
Now, it's nine years later and Americans have something else to be excited about. (and that's the good excitement, not the OH MY GOD THE WORLD IS GOING TO END excitement). A new president! And since Excite Magazine is all about, well, excitement (didn't see that one coming did you?) we want to welcome and congratulate our new President, Barack Obama and the first family! Yes, we know we're a bit late here but there's no time like the present. These are certainly uncommon times that we are living in. The United States of America has its first Black President. How's that for uncommon? President Obama's election not only marks a milestone in American history but is a testament to the spirit of the American people and their ability to band together regardless of their differences to support a candidate that they believe in, and even better, a candidate that appears to really believe in them. Regardless of who you voted for or what your feelings about President Obama are, it cannot be denied that Obama has revived the spirit of hope within the American people which seems to have been missing over the past few years. The majority of Americans are genuinely excited about what President Obama and his administration plan to do for our country. He has become a bit more than a politician, he is a celebrity. Only time will tell whether that continues to be a good thing in the eyes of the American people, but right now the media and the public just eat it up, and it looks like President Obama is our hippest and most easy going leader yet. Yes, I did just write "hippest." He talks sports, dances to the latest, and hangs with his family. He reminds Americans of Americans and so far, so good.
