R&B singer Omarion denies that he was dropped from Young Money Records, Rapper Lil Wayne's record label. The singer states that the decision to leave Young Money was entirely his own. In a series of Twitter updates Omarion writes,

"What up tweep's good day. There's alot of people thinking i got dropped from Y.m that has never nor will ever b the kase I asked to b...realeased, I didnt get dropped. I wish wayne and all of Y.m good luck for there future. There r no hard feelings, business is business and I..made a decision that I felt was best for me..ALBUM OLLUSION still koming video still koming really soon luv yall thanx for holdin me down!"

This, of course, is contrary to the rumor that he was dropped for leaking a song featuring Lil Wayne called, "I Get it In." Mack Maine, President of YoungMoney records does not confirm or deny that rumor but does make sure to tell the public that the leaked song was not an official track in case fans had gotten their hopes up. Check out Mack Maine's Twitter update announcing Omarion's departure. In addition to announcing the news on Twitter, Maine has released a statement to popular music site SOHH saying,

"Omarion is no longer with Young Money. May God be with him and his future endeavors."

As spectators to the situation we may never know exactly what precipitated O's departure from Young Money, but we definitely appreciate and commend Mack Maine for handling the situation in such a respectful manner. In Hip-Hop these type of situations often involve a bit of mud slinging and a lot of "he said-she said" in the form of rap battles, so it is refreshing to see this handled so maturely by both parties. We will just have to wait and see what becomes of Omarion's album New Me and his career after this, but what is really cause for alarm is the fact that it took him THREE separate status updates to complete the aforementioned statement on Twitter and the fact that Mack Maine used the site to announce O's departure in the first place! Why is major industry news being disbursed via Twitter? There was a time when they used press releases for that. What is the world coming to? Oh, yes, I remember, a cheap verbal buffet: all you can say in 140 characters or less.
