Movie Review:

This spring season we've had numerous films to choose from... The Fast & The Furious franchise, 12 rounds, Observe and Report, and others! But right now I want to focus on the films American Violet and Obsessed. Starting with Obsessed, you have a plot surrounding a temp worker named Lisa (played by Ali Larter) who is working for a firm and is intrigued by the vice president Derek (Idris Elba). She tries her best to steal Derek from his wife (Beyonce) with crazy antics. The movie was predictable in certain parts throughout and some scenes could have been left out because they only added time and not purpose. Lackluster acting from Beyonce was another drag even though it was her best performance in a film, but that is where Ali Larter and Idris Elba stepped in to give us a solid and stellar performance! Overall the movie was okay but would have been better suited as a TV movie via Lifetime or Oxygen. The overall rating was a C-

As for the film American Violet, its cast was a breath of fresh air. The actors which included hip hop artist, Xzibit and Nichole Beharie as the lead, delivered great performances . The film is about a southern mom who is wrongfully accused of a crime and the first person to step up and sue the mayor of a Texas city because of his racist antics! The story is based on fact and will really make you think about not just politics, but the so called "justice" system in our country. The film gets an A as an overall rating
